Netflix has confirmed the release of “Squid Game” Season 2 this year and unveiled four stills for the first time.
On the 2nd, Netflix announced through “Next On Netflix” that “Squid Game” Season 2 will be exclusively released in 2024.
“Squid Game” tells the story of people who participate in a mysterious survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won, risking their lives to become the last winner. Season 2 begins with Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) returning with his own purpose after giving up on going to the United States.
The four stills released together capture the intense appearances of characters from Season 1 who have been loved by fans, including “Gi-hun” (played by Lee Jung-jae), “Front Man” (played by Lee Byung-hun), and “Recruiter” (played by Gong Yoo). There is also growing interest in the character played by Park Gyu-young, who appears for the first time in the new season.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed and wrote “Squid Game” Season 1, is back to helm and write Season 2. Director Hwang and Lee Jung-jae both received awards at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards for Best Director and Best Actor, respectively, for this drama.
In addition to returning actors Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo, the new season features new cast members such as Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-shim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yoo-ri, and Won Ji-an.
